Celebrating Our Founding Team: James & Simon Turn Another Year Wiser

Meet the Experts Behind ITbuilder - Birthday Edition!

At ITbuilder, our story isn’t just about technology - it’s about the people who make it work.

This week, we’re taking a moment to celebrate two very special team members: James Naylor and Simon Lunness. Not only is it their birthday, but they’ve also been with ITbuilder since day oneThat’s more than two decades of commitment, growth, leadership, and heart. And we couldn’t be prouder to celebrate them.

These birthdays aren’t just milestones. They’re a reminder of why ITbuilder exists: purpose, perseverance, partnership, and the human connections at the heart of every business we support.

Two Birthdays, One Legacy: Celebrating James & Simon - Heart and Soul of ITbuilder

Back in 2001, James founded ITbuilder with a simple belief: technology should help people, not frustrate them. After years in corporate IT, he wanted to build a company that genuinely supported small and medium-sized businesses with honesty, reliability and a human touch.

Shortly after, Simon joined as ITbuilder’s very first employee. Being “number one” at a startup isn’t just a title - it’s a testament. Over the next 20 years, he became a pillar of the business: from account management to trusted advisor, from late-night troubleshooting to leading managed security solutions. His dedication has been celebrated across the organisation for shaping ITbuilder’s culture through loyalty, resilience, and unmatched technical grit.

Together, James and Simon didn’t just build a company - they nurtured a community. They shaped ITbuilder into a place where expertise meets humanity, and technology serves people, not the other way around.

More Than IT - It’s About People, Stories & Connection

Today, ITbuilder delivers managed IT support, co-managed IT, cybersecurity, cloud solutions, data protection, and more.

But what truly defines us is the human touch James and Simon set from day one:

▪️Calm, reliable support: the voice on the phone that eases a stressed client.

▪️Proactive problem-solving: staying late to ensure technology works seamlessly.

▪️Trusted partnership: relationships that feel like an extension of your own team.

James often says his favourite part of the job is seeing businesses thrive when their technology finally “just works” - because behind every server, cloud migration and cybersecurity plan, there are real people building something meaningful.

Looking Back, Moving Forward

From a small Hertford operation to a trusted MSP supporting businesses across the UK - ITbuilder’s journey reflects the values James and Simon champion daily:

Loyalty - decades of commitment to the company and clients.

Longevity - experience that translates into expert guidance.

Trust - the foundation of every client relationship.

They are living proof that ITbuilder’s success isn’t defined by tools or tech stacks - but by people who care enough to stay, grow, and lead.

Here’s to James & Simon: The Heart of ITbuilder

So here’s to you both - for your years of leadership, your countless client wins and smiles, the late‑night fixes, the early-morning dedication, your laughter in the office, the team spirit and your unwavering belief that IT support is more than a service - it’s a promise.

Happy Birthday 🎉

And thank you for helping build something that lasts - not because of systems or strategies, but because of people like you.
