From hosting to branding

Not being content with getting a company online, we want to make sure that we really do improve a business through technology. When Steve Thomas of Homes Mortgages came to us recently to sort out some technical issues with his email and web hosting, he asked what we could do about how it looked too. Sending and recieving email is one thing, but giving a professional image is something else. Likewise, with a website. Having a presence online is essential these days, but is it saying the right thing about your business?  Well, in this case one thing led to another and from getting their email, domain names and website hosting onto a single platform with a local provider andwith the features that the busy staff required, we were soon giving the whole comapny a make-over. What started out as some technical housekeeping turned into a full brand refresh, so that Home Mortgages online presence and its online communication with customers reflected the firm accurately. After a short consultation, our creative m ...

76 User Mailboxes to One Cloud Provider ... Challenge Accepted!

At ITbuilder we never shy away from a challenge even when it seems monumental which is why when we were approached by a client who wanted to migrate his 76 user mailboxes over to Office 365 “in the cloud” without interruptions we didn’t hesitate to say yes! Our client was originally using an expensive hosted system which was running off an exchange 2010 infrastructure. This came at a much higher cost than Office 365 which allows clients to individually licence their Office suite saving a considerable amount of budget. The clients hosted system was also managed by a 3rd party provider which was adding additional costs to their operation and meaning that they were not in control of their updates and operating systems. Office 365 ensures that businesses will always be up to date with the latest technology in a much simpler, more organised and effective manner. The Best Man for the Job James Gray, Support Engineer at ITbuilder has extensive experience with hosted services and specialises ...

Forward-thinking firm of accountants takes to the clouds

Accountancy firms have a reputation for being traditional, conservative and not often at the bleeding-edge of technology. Not so Accounting Direct Plus (ADP) in Palmers Green, North London. Head of Business Advisory at ADP, Tugrul Yigitoglu, has a passion for technology that is equal to his keen eye on, not only his, but also his customer’s financial bottom line. Always open to new ways to bring efficiencies and improve his staff’s productivity, Tugrul, contracted ITbuilder to deploy a new hosted desktop and telephone solution into his business. The Brief The company needed to refresh its servers in 2013 due to the imminent expiration of server hardware warranty and to ensure continuous operation of its systems. ITbuilder had migrated the business’ mail system into the cloud the previous year and the management were keen to explore how other aspects of their IT could be delivered in the same way. The business was also expanding quickly into South London and was soon to be opening an office in Central Lond ...

Smart new network for smart new headquarters

In July 2013, financial services company Lifetime Wealth Management , one of the UK’s leading wealth advisory firms, approached us to design them a network for their new headquarters in St. Albans city centre. Just a short walk from their existing office, the  premises on Upper Marlborough Road is a newly refurbished Victorian property with an impressive double bay-fronted, period exterior extended to the rear with modern office floor space. Brief The company required a completely new data and voice network at the site that was about to undergo a plush office fit-out. New glass partitioning was being installed to create light and airy consultation rooms as well as modern, open-plan break out areas and a large board/training room. The 30-plus staff, many of whom are financial advisors, required reliable and fast internet access for their cloud-based financial services software and hosted e-mail platform. They also required a telephone system to provide a desk handset with a headset for each advisor who ...

Northants-based digital marketing agency increase capacity without breaking walls

A growing digital marketing agency gets increased capacity by ditching a traditional telephone system in favour of an integrated IP system that drops in, switches on and eliminates limitations in extensions and cabling that had been a business headache for some time. The Problem Star Digital Marketing Services Ltd is a digital design agency based in Northamptonshire located near the grounds of Castle Ashby, the seat of the Marquis of Northampton. As with all businesses, telecommunications is an essential part of their infrastructure enabling them to stay in touch with customers and partners at all stages of the projects they work on. Their existing telephony infrastructure was a legacy BT TDM telephone system with several handsets located throughout the building. This system was coming to the end of its supported life and was no longer cost-effective to upgrade with additional capacity and proving expensive and time-consuming to make simple configuration changes to meet the needs of the bus ...

Planning for a disaster

Corniche Events has a long standing association with a major international sporting event event held annually in June, and are contracted to provide the personnel for the transport service to get all players and officials to and from the event. The tournament, held in Sout-West London, is the culmination of twelve months of hard work for the directors and their team. Everything that they do is in preparation for the fortnight over which the event falls and ensuring that everything runs like clockwork is their ultimate goal. One slip up and one of the major stars could be left waiting at his lodgings or an adjudicator is sat on the South Circular when they should be officiating over a game. Corniche have used ITbuilder for their IT services for a number of years and during the summer of 2009 were very glad that they did. ITbuilder had advised them on their Business Continuity Services to back up its database of personnel, which is the life-blood of the business. Daily copies of this database along with shared ...
