The Remote Backup Service (RBS) comprises of a small software agent that runs in the computer operating system and communicates securely with servers at our data centre. It make daily comparisons of your files and folders and updates any changes that have been made during that day.
RBS supports all of today's popular desktop and server operating systems:
As well as backing up files and folders, RBS is able to take backups of system configuratons or 'System State' as well as common databases such as MySQL, Microsoft SQL, Lotes Notes or Domino and Oracle.
Microsoft Exchange servers can also be fully backed up, but due the size of the average Exchange mail database there is a additional fee per mailbox. Exchange mailboxes are backed at 'Brick Level' meaning that individual messages and mailboxes can be copied and restored without needing to uploading huge database store files.
The agent software is very intuitive and easy to configure for anybody who has used any kind of backup software before, however we will gladly assist you with this process using our Remote Desktop support tool. Where multiple systems or a large amount of data requires backing up, we will provide a fully managed installation service dispatching an engineer to your premises to install the software and setup an initial 'seed' backup to external media. We then physically transfer the external media to our data-centre and transfer across the initial copy. Subsequent backups check for changes to the initial copy and upload changes.
The following diagram demonstrates how the system has been put together:

Your deleted data can be kept for 7 days, but can be stored longer if you have adequate storage in your RBS storage quota. This can protect you from accidental deletions. |
 |
The communication with the RBS server and the storage of your data is hashed with military-grade encryption so that only holders of the password can access it. |
 |
The data on the RBS Server is replicated between two ITbuilder data centres for additional redundancy. |
